Rules & Regulation

Absent - Absences are only excused for medical or legal reasons.  A letter will need to be provided to the Attendance Teacher.

a. A call (for each day that the student is absent) through the school messenger.

b. The Attendance Teacher will visit the home of the child after one week of absences unexcused.

c. 20 unexcused absences or more requires IS192Q to call A.C.S.

d. Students with a number of unexcused absences will cause the student to fail because of the missed instructional time in class.

e. High Schools weigh attendance very heavily when they are deciding if a student may attend their school or not.

S.M.A.R.T. University Prep

a. white, pink, or gray shirt or blouse

b. polo sweater with logo

c. burgundy jacket with logo

d. gray, burgundy, plaid or pink ties (ascots for girls)

e. gray slacks (boys)/burgundy, gray or plaid skirts/pants (girls)

f. black soled shoes (no sneakers)

 

Electronics – No cell phones, video games, video cameras, iPods, mp3 players are allowed in school.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Lunch Forms – forms may be filled out and brought back to the office.  If you are in need of a form please come to the school office and we will provide you with one, thank you.

New Admit – someone new to the NYC school system.

1. Proof of Address: (any two of the following).

a. Utility bill (gas or lease not phone bill) in your name.  If you do not have a bill in your name, you are required to bring a bill in the person’s name who you are living with and a notarized letter from that person stating that you reside at the address.

b. Documents from city housing authority

c. Medical insurance cards

d. Letter from employer on letterhead

e. Letter from community agency on letterhead

f. Deed to house

g. Letter from the Board of Education – Students Living in Temporary Housing

h. Documents from Human Resources Administration

2. Proof of Birth - Birth Certificate or passport

a. Immunization- The records must be up to date

No lasers and No basketballs are allowed

Reports Cards – Report Cards are issues during the following months Nov., Jan., March, and June.

School Hours

Grade 6, 7, 8 – 7:33A.M. – 2:30P.M. Monday – Wednesday

(*37.5 hours of tutoring 7:33A.M. - 8:08A.M. Monday - Wednesday)

Grade 6, 7, 8 - 8:10A.M. – 2:30P.M. Thursday – Friday

Summer Dress Code – Students are to wear school uniforms.  Students who are inappropriately dressed will receive a summons, a phone call home to inform parents/guardians and request for a change of clothing.

a. No shorts,

b. Open toed shoes (i.e. sandals, flip flops)

Summer Packets – During the summer students are given assignments to be completed.  When the students return to school in the fall they will receive credit towards their grade for the completed packet.

Tardiness

a. Students must be in their seats at 8:09A.M.  After 8:10A.M. the student is considered tardy.

b. 2 tardies are counted as 1 absence.

c. A call (for each day that the student is tardy) through the school messenger.

d. Students with a number of tardies may cause them to fail because of the missed instructional time in class.

e. High Schools weigh attendance very heavily when they are deciding if a student may attend their school or not.

Transportation – Any student that qualifies for a Student Metro Card will receive it as soon as possible.  The current address in the ATS system will determine eligibility.

Vacation Packets -  During the Spring and Winter breaks  students are given assignments to be completed.  When the students return to school after the break they will receive credit towards their grade for the completed packet.
